Set in 2065 on a remote island, the Hare Island Retreat + Residency is a two-year residency for 100 participants focused on the cooperative design and construction of cohousing communities. The design brief called for a bottom-up framework modeled on A Pattern Language, enabling individuals to design and build their own dwellings. Compact residential clusters and shared workspaces support collective production while the island setting exposes real constraints around governance, resources, and environmental limits.
