This project proposes a mid-rise mass timber residential building in urban Seattle, organized as a five-story timber tower over a two-story concrete pedestal. Located on one of the city’s remaining “spite hills,” the design engages both historic topography and Seattle’s single-stair building code to increase density within a constrained site. The residential volume is elevated above terraced public gardens, bringing public space to a third-story terrace that extends over an adjacent rooftop and reconnects fragmented urban elevations. The tower contains four dwelling units per floor, while the concrete base accommodates commercial uses and shared amenities, establishing a clear structural and programmatic hierarchy between public, collective, and private space.
